  • Active Chair Yoga on Tuesdays 10:00am-11:00am (already running-contact to join)

  • Somatic Yoga Flow on Friday 7:00-8:15pm (starts May 10th)

Active Chair Yoga

This class alternates between seated and non seated practices. We use guided mindfulness of breath and body as well as a combination of seated and standing movements, always with the option of using the chair for balance. We move dynamically to circulate the energy through the whole body, from head to toe!

Somatic Yoga to Unwind Your Week

Somatic based Yoga emphasises internal sensation over external form, inviting a more finely tuned awareness of movement and presence in the body mind.

All humans hold some degree of sensory motor amnesia (SMA) that is, places we may be disconnected or disassociated from. These can be places where there is a holding of lot of unconscious tension. This tightness and tension, of which we are not even aware, can be a source of discomfort physically and create reaction patterns of compensatory movements and postural habits that further exacerbate physical and mental stress.

Somatic Yoga helps create a sense of spacious awareness within which we can start to release stress and tension and move towards a more easeful state. This process of relaxation supports our nervous system in being more responsive than reactive, so we can make choices about what we do and how we act in any given situation rather than be pushed and pulled around by the habit patterns in both our body and our mind.

Through the gentle but potent explorations of somatic yoga, awareness of the body mind relationship is established and integrated. This place of integration is where intuitive movement can arise, and so moving around and beyond the cues of the teacher is always encouraged. With Megan as your guide, Somatic Yoga Flow invites you into a relationship of friendship and deep trust in your own bodymind.

This practice will weave elements of *Megan's Somatic trainings in * Hanna Somatic Education, Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy, Mind body centering, fascial unwinding & Experiential Anatomy.
