Private One-to-one Yoga Consultations and Small Group Classes can help!
Yoga is an ancient but timeless technology that simultaneously taps into your potent energies and strengths while also cultivating greater sense of relaxation, awareness and integration. A wise practice of yoga challenges and at the same time supports you wherever you need it, transforming stuck spots into areas of surprising power, and creating more overall strength and range of motion both physically and mentally. Opening up new pathways, new opportunities for both ease and excitement in the body and mind, yoga is both an ongoing adventure into the previously uncharted territory of you, as well as a place of refuge you can rely on in an uncertain world.
Whether you are just thinking about trying yoga for the first time, in the early stages of practice, or a relatively regular practitioner, everyone can benefit from one to one individual instruction.
Why One to One For Those Beginning Yoga Practice?
Yoga is not one size fits all. There are a lot of different styles and teachers out there and you may spend a lot of money and try a lot of studios/teachers before you find something that resonates. A few private classes at the outset can help orient you to some basics so that you can make an informed choice about what might work best for you. Working one to one with an experienced yoga teacher at the very beginning of your yoga experience can also help identify habits in your posture and movement patterns that are not serving you well. This is most certainly not a fault finding exercise but more an opportunity to explore ways to move towards more ease and balance in our embodied experience.
Private classes are a choose your own adventure in so far as you can request the degree of vigour or ease you prefer, although an experienced yoga teacher will advise you on what is most appropriate for your very specific individual situation. Individual instruction prepares you for the potent challenge of an ongoing yoga and ensures you are equipped to meet this challenge with the modifications and tools that keep the practice satisfying, sustainable and rewarding for you across all stages of life.
Why One To One For Those In Early Years Of Yoga Practice?
Private instruction can give you the kind of individual attention there's often less time for in a public class. It can help address questions you have about alignment in asana, overall and/or in particular poses. Do you have specific concerns about your knees, your shoulders, your wrists—We can address these! We can work with poses you like, extending and expanding, or work with poses you “dislike” and explore how and why they challenge you. We can pinpoint particular strengths and weaknesses in your postural patterning and find strategies to develop your strength and range of motion in ways that are safe and stimulating for you. You may be interested in delving into aspects of yoga practice that receive less attention in group asana classes like pranayama and/or meditation. Maybe you want to develop a home practice and need some tips on how to do that or design a sequence for your particular needs; eg 20 mins, morning sequence, focus on shoulders! Or yoga to prepare me for sleep. This kind of bespoke yoga is the terrain of private yoga classes for those who have been doing yoga for a while but are ready for more detail and/or committed practice.
Why One To One For Those With A Well Established Yoga Practice?
Everyone can benefit from a fresh perspective. Very often we feel that something in our practice is not working for us but cannot figure out what's out of balance. There could be a biomechanical/postural adjustment that might help, or it might be an energetic shift that’s needed. Maybe we just need to try a new approach emotionally and/or psychologically. A shared experiential exploration may breathe new life into a practice that's mature but maybe a little jaded, stuck or just needs to adjust to a new stage in life. Or perhaps you may wish to delve more deeply into ayurveda and yoga philosophy . . . a truly wild adventure! Let’s do it!
