What Is Nourish: Deep Relaxation?

In this class, we blend the nourishment of Ayurvedic Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Mindful Movement to offer a potent brew of practice that supports you in relieving your body mind heart of the burdens of your busy day, re-connecting with yourself and preparing to greet the rest of your week with a sense of spaciousness and ease.

This is an all levels practice designed to nourish what in Ayurveda we refer to as the vital essences; Prana (the essence of energetic movement eg circulation, sensory perception), Tejas (the essence of energetic transformation eg digestion, assimilation and integration) and Ojas (the essence of energetic containment for our energy eg resilience, immunity and vitality).

This class has three components:

1. gentle mindful movement to circulate and balance Prana,

2. restorative yoga to allow for a renewal of Ojas. Restorative Yoga is when we allow the body to relax and release in positions of comfort and ease. We create this comfort and ease using a variety of props like cushions, bolsters, blankets and strap. The postures are held for a longer time because of the complete support we receive from the props.

3. guided meditation to cultivate awareness, discernment and integration, important aspects of Tejas.

Who Is This Class For?

This is an all levels class, suitable for all who seek balance, stress-relief and opening to their own wisdom through a combination of gentle mindful movement, restorative yoga stillness and fully embodied awareness. Beginners are very welcome as are practitioners who may typically have a more vigorous physical practice but who may wish to experience the deep replenishment of restorative yoga and learn how to apply Ayurvedic principles to their existing yoga practice
