Yoga is a small word that points towards a big picture—living in a state of well-being that is informed by our natural capacity for happiness, wisdom & peace. While it’s origins are in ancient India, it is a living tradition and has much to offer people of all ages & from all backgrounds and requires no adherence to any one set of cultural or religious beliefs.
This long and rich history, the river of yoga, brings us a treasure trove of potent practices, spanning techniques of physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being; while one doesn’t have to engage in all these practices to feel the benefits of yoga (indeed it would be impossible to do them all), it’s empowering to learn a variety of practices and the appropriate contexts for them so that we can have a selection of tools in our yoga toolbox. Then our yoga toolbox becomes our own personal maintenance and repair kit for what a good deal of what ails us.
This series comprises of six afternoon workshops, one per month from September through February, They will always be on Saturdays, from 1pm-6pm with a mid-afternoon break.
Each session will feature the following: understanding biomechanics and yoga anatomy through asana (postural) practice; mindfulness meditation; breathwork and chanting; philosophy and myth; restorative yoga.
You do not have to do all sessions in the series, although they will build on one another, and the progress is meant to be cumulative. Nevertheless, the material will be presented in such a way that you will find them accessible as stand alone workshops and benefit accordingly, but obviously your relationship with the material will be richer the more sessions you can attend.
Those that are attending multiple sessions will be encouraged/assisted in finding another yoga buddy in the series to help support their home practice. Further, for those doing 4+ sessions, there will be ongoing access to Cathi during the series via email/phone and also access to online materials on the website.
