Whether or not your moon time (your period) falls on the date of this session, this is an enormously beneficial workshop. It's is designed to give you skills and techniques so that you can nurture yourself as your body goes through this natural but challenging process.
Whether you are a regular yoga practitioner or not, the moon cycle, or menstruation time, is a time to slow down and allow the body time and space to do the important work of releasing the lining of your uterus so that fertility can begin again afresh. Staying with vigorous activity of any kind at this time can interrupt this downward and outward energy flow, and can drain and deplete us when we are already lower on energy than usual for very good reason.
However, many of us do want to continue with some yoga practice and with a little bit of refinement and awareness of what's suited to this time of the month, we can not only continue to enjoy the nourishment of yoga, but also find ways to bring powerful relief from some of the unpleasant physical and emotional accompaniments of menstruation.
In this workshop we'll explore dynamic but gentle movements as well as the stillness of restorative postures. We'll learn downward regulating breathing techniques and mindfulness meditation techniques to create conditions for ease and peace in the bodyheartmind at this often challenging time of the month.
With the appropriate yoga practice, our moon time can be a time of re-connection the rhythms of nature and an occasion of welcome release and renewal.
